Hours worked per week (Resident Analysis)
Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings provisional results
The Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE) is based on a 1% sample of employee jobs taken from HM Revenue and Customs PAYE records. Information on earnings and hours is obtained from employers and treated confidentially. ASHE does not cover the self-employed nor does it cover employees not paid during the reference period.
The median is described as the numeric value separating the higher half of a sample or dataset from the lower half. In published reports, median earnings rather than the mean will generally be used. The median is the value below which 50% of employees fall. It is preferred over the mean for earnings data as it is influenced less by extreme values and because of the skewed distribution of earnings data. Annual, weekly and hourly pay for part-time and full-time employee jobs by place of residence. This data set provides information about the hours worked by employees who are living in an area, who are on adult rates and whose pay for the survey pay-period was not affected by absence.
